This belt was exactly what I was looking for - good craftsmanship and visual appeal for a budget price that would fit my new utility kilt. I had tried a few other brands but ended up returning them due to poor imprinting on the patterns. This one looked perfect right out of the package and paired nicely with a thistle belt buckle. Band width was perfect and had no issues fitting through the loops. The part where the band folds over (with the velcro) does stick out a little bit at first but this subsides with wear.

It is definitely thick durible leather, but with the quality you can expect from an amazon purchase. The leather is not a polished leather, but rather a suede kind of surface that over time will start to wrinkle or crack. With light casual use it will be fine and will last a while, but it matches the price you pay for it.
