There was a meeting on 9 March 1986 in Canada in order to promote the Scottish culture. In this meeting many ministers and high officials attended. The President of Clan Lamont named, Jean Watson also took part in this meeting. After a long hours meeting, it decided that in order to promote the Scottish culture there should be a day, so they decided to celebrate the Scottish culture on 6 April 1986 as a tartan day. On 19 December 1991, the clan and other Scottish families in Canada also take part in this tartan day. This day was gradually celebrated in every province of Canada and then in the United States and other countries.
